Some Site Issues -- Working On Them
I recently discovered that comment posting to both my photos and download sections are throwing exceptions. My weblog appears to be unaffected, however should anyone get an error attempting to post a comment, please contact me immediately with a copy of the stack trace which is displayed. I don't have an ETA at this time, but traffic to both of those sections is minimal so it's not a huge deal. On a somewhat humorous note, CS is blocking almost 1,000 blog spams a day on my site. A thousand! Geez. Read More...

A Quick Jayson Update
Just a quick update on yours truly for anyone who's interested as I haven't been posting nearly as much as I'd like lately (though I do have a laundry list of posts on my //todo list). The main reason is that the holidays are upon us stateside, which will keep most of us occupied through the first of the year, however I'm also spending less time in front of my machine and more time with loved ones. First, the good: I'm still living at my Dad's, which has been a total blessing though ironically enough I still don't get to see that part of my family as much as I'd like...and they live 20 feet away. I feel like I'm 20 years old again, which is a good thing. According to the most recent vet examination of my doggy, it appears that it more than likely isn't cancer after all as the "obstruction" (as they are calling it now) has neither grown nor shrank. The truth is that if it was something malignant he probably wouldn't have made it this long. They want to do a biopsy to make sure; unfortunately... Read More...

CS Tidbits #24: Aggregate Your Site's Aggregates
This question came up over on the CS.org forums recently: "Is there a 'super' aggregate for all feeds in a Community Server installation?" The short answer is no, however with the introduction of Content Mirroring in the 2.1 release, the somewhat longer answer is yes...but it isn't apparent at first glance. What you'll need to do is create a new Mirrored Content Section to house your site's existing syndication feeds (in essence what you're doing is combining all of your feeds into a single section); by doing this that section will then expose a new feed containing all of your site's content, thus a single feed for your entire site. This may sound a little confusing if you're not familiar with how Content Mirroring works in CS...for a refresher see tidbits 16 and 18 (though in this case, the steps outlined in #18 are optional). Sidenote: Things have been quiet from most of the CS MVPs, and over on CS.org in general. I personally attribute this to CS becoming a more self-sustaining entity... Read More...

I Must Be Turning Into My Mother...
Because lately I prefer to listen to NPR rather than music stations while driving. And I don't even like talk radio. Sidenote: It certainly doesn't help that radio in Charlotte is absolute shit. One of the last decent stations (which isn't even actually based in Charlotte; they played good 80's stuff) bit the dust recently and came back reformatted as an oldies station. Oldies as in the bad stuff from the 50's and 60's. Everything else is either hip-hop/r&b or country. Oh, and the above only applies when I don't have any decent CD's in the car. Read More...
