XBox 360 -- Yes, It's Time To Make A Purchase

In an effort to completely erode away the rest of my spare time, I’ve decided that it could indeed be time to upgrade my XBox v.original to the newer model.  I’ve been searching around to see who has the best deals/packages/etc, but figured why do that when I can tap into the vast gameage power of my 4 readers.

So, who has the best deals?  Best packages?  What are the must have games/accessories?  Is it even worth buying one, or should I wait until MS makes their first round of price cuts?  Free shipping is always nice as well.  I just checked the compatibility list, and it looks like I’m good to go with all my games as well, so that’s nice (the the only 2 title I really care about are Halo 2 and Chaos Theory).

It’ll finally be nice to get rid of that ugly black box cluttering up my a/v system as well…that thing is a monster compared to the 360.  If this site goes silent for weeks on end, you’ll know that the transaction has been completed, and that I’ll also be getting no sleep whatsoever.

I don't have a ton of games, but here are the ones I can tell you about... in my personal order of preference:

1. Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter -- Given that you like Halo and Chaos Theory, this one is a MUST-have. It's easily the best looking game I've seen on the 360. In addition to looking great, it's also fun to play.

2. Call of Duty 2 -- Not as good as GRAW, but still nice looking. It's a little more "run and gun" than GRAW is, but the storyline is also a lot better.

3. Project Gotham 3 -- Not sure if you're a race fan, but this game gives GRAW a run for the money in the looks department and really moves the Project Gotham franchise forward. Lots of fun on Xbox Live.

4. Perfect Dark Zero -- Not as good looking as the others and I didn't find it to be quite as much fun. It's probably the most similar to Halo/2, though, in terms of the gameplay. If I had it to do over again, I'd wait for this one to come down in price before picking it up.

Finally, make sure you check out the Xbox Live Arcade games for the 360. Adding Bejeweled and Marble Blast to the mix turned the 360 into a whole-family device overnight (where the original Xbox was previously just a Daddy gadget).

Have fun.

Wow, thanks for all of that information Jeff!  Yeah, I'm pretty sure Ghost Recon is gonna be a must have...I can't wait!  Already sold the old XBox on eBay and hopefully my new rig will be here soon.

I just got an 360 on friday and got two games: Gun (my husband's choice) and Perfect Dark Zero (my choice).

At first play, both are pretty good. Haven't had THAT much time to really play them out, but so far so good. I'll watch this space.

Jason, i'm not sure where you are located but I picked up the premium bundle from Costco, came with 2 wireless controllers, a recharge pack, and Gotham 3. For 479, its a great deal.
I also recommend GRAW, i was hooked on that for around a month.
Whatever you do, do not get a core system, the extra 100 for a premium is worth it since the wireless controller and the hardrive retails for 150.
When you pick it up add me, my gamertag is lordJmo.
We'll play some GRAW together.
